Engine 30 was first put into service on July 10, 1883. It was relocated to 1940 Center Street in the West Roxbury section of Boston on June 1, 1898 where it remains today.

Up until 1921 Engine 30 was a horse drawn pumper.

It is housed with Ladder 25 which took up residence in this firehouse on April 21, 1905. Ladder 25 was horse drawn until April 24, 1917.

Today Engine 30 is a 1996 Emergency One Cyclone II pumper with 1250 gpm and a 750 gallon tank. It responded to 1,371 incidents in 2006.

Ladder 25 is a 1990 Emergency One rear-mount 110 aerial ladder. It responded to 1,581 incidents in 2006. Both of these units report to the District 10 chief.

The neighborhood served by Engine 30 and Ladder 25 has a mostly suburban feel to it. It has tree lined streets with mostly single family homes with some two-family homes as well.
