Code 3 FDNY Bureau of Investigation Fire Scene Unit
A spare 1992 Ford Ambulance has been retrofitted into a Fire Scene Unit for the
Bureau of Fire Investigation. Placed in service during June, the interior has
been fitted with desks and chairs, as well as evidence gathering equipment.
Forcible entry tool, a generator and portable lights, and digital, audio and
video equipments to be used by Fire Marshals at the scene of an incident. The
unit, with one fire marshal assigned to drive it on each tour, will respond on
third alarms, as well as certain incidents in which deaths or serious injuries
are involved, and will be used to support investigations. It is quartered at the
Bureau of Fire Investigation's Special Operations Command location at the
quarters of Engine 211, Brooklyn.
