Cedar Hill, Texas, is located in the southwest corner of Dallas County. The
Cedar Hill Fire Department was organized in May, 1941, with eleven volunteer
members. Today, fire protection and emergency medical services are provided from
3 fire stations by 39 career and 15 volunteer firefighters. The department
responds annually to some 2,000 alarms and 1,900 EMS calls.
This 1999 Pierce Dash 1,500 gpm fire engine is housed at Central Fire Station.
Its call number is E-211. The county wide numbering system denotes the '21' as
Cedar Hill and the last number of this set denotes the engine from Central
Station. This eliminates a lot of radio transmissions for identification among
mutual and automatic aid departments.
Cedar Hill is a rapid, growing community of some 30,000 citizens with an
anticipated maximum population of some 140,000.
