Ladder 31
Ladder 31, was organized on May 1st, 1907 in their current quarters they share
with Engine 82. Like Engine 82, Ladder 31 was also made famous by Engine 82's
firefighter Dennis Smith's book. During the fire war years both companies were
one of the busiest companies in the department. Their response area like Engine
82 still includes tenements and one and two family homes. Ladder 31 had 28 medal
day winners and 20 Unit Citations awarded to them. Today Ladder 31 is assigned a
1999 Seagrave Aerialscope 75 foot Tower Ladder.
