Engine 82
Engine 82 was organized on September 5th, 1905 in their current quarters located at 1215 Intervale Avenue in the Bronx. Engine 82 was made famous by a former member of the company, Dennis Smith, who authored 'Report From Engine Company 82'. This book highlighted the war years of the Bronx burning.
Their first alarm response area consisted of many large tenements and H-type buildings. However, during the fire war years most of these buildings were replaced by one and two family homes. Engine 82 shares their quarters with Ladder 31. Their house nickname is 'La Casa Grande' The Big House. Engine 82 over the years had four medal day winners, 16 Unit Citations and only one death in the line of duty. Engine 82 operates a 1993 Seagrave 1000 gpm pumper with a 500-gallon water tank.
