The Village of Hoffman Estates is recognized as one of the premier communities in the State of Illinois. The Village covers 19.9 square miles and is the home of a number of regional and national corporations, most notable Ameritech, Siemens Medical Systems, and Sears Roebuck and Co.

Rescue and medical services to the Village's 48,000 residents and business community are provided by the Hoffman Estates Fire Department's four stations. The stations are staffed by 3 Battalion Chiefs, 3 Captains, 12 Lieutenants, and 69 firefighters/paramedics. Administrative support for the Department consists of 4 chief officers, 3 fire inspectors and a secretarial staff of 3.
